Apple TV
For those individuals who like their programming comes something that is going to change their world.
How about a device that allows you to watch your favorite TV shows commercial-free? Or see movies either the same day or right after they come out on DVD, all in HD?
All of these programs can be yours with the Apple TV. It gives you instant access to what you want, when you want it, and displays it all on your HDTV.
Gone are the days of waiting for your provider to run the programming you want according to their schedule. Now, you can be in control.
This gives you the ability to rent your favorite shows or rent movies from the largest HD collection available. Everything you view streams wirelessly to the Apple TV.
This device gets its content from a multitude of sources including Netflix, Flickr, MobileMe and, of course, YouTube. You can choose to watch them on your TV or directly to your PC- its your choice. It comes with a built-in HDMI connection that takes it all to your HDTV so everyone can enjoy.
But this device isn’t only about programming. You can take your photos and even iTunes and run them directly from your PC or Mac to your HDTV, as well. Your music and pictures no longer have to be hostage on your computer.
Besides HDMI capability, you can also connect with either Ethernet or Wi-Fi. It also has an optical audio port and one for an IR receiver. All of this is enclosed in a device less than four inches wide and only weighs an astonishing 0.6 pounds. And the sleek 7-button aluminum remote is simple to use.
Movie lovers will appreciate the ability of having movies on demand. Once you rent the movie of your choice you have 30 days to start watching it- just in case something interrupts your plans. Once it is played you can enjoy it for the next 24 hours. And you can rent as many movies as you like since there is no contract.
No matter what you like to watch, whether it is drama, reality or even sitcoms, TV shows can be rented along the same guidelines as movies. They come without commercials for less than a dollar an episode. And programming isn’t limited to what is currently playing.
You can go back to the beginning of the show, if you missed something or just want to catch up. Once a show is rented, you have 30 days to start watching. And once the show begins, you have 48 hours to enjoy. There is no limit to how many times you can replay it in that time frame, either.
For the Internet junkies who like to catch up online, Apple TV has you covered, too. Everything from YouTube, podcasts and HDTV radio stations all around the world is at your disposal.
For iPhone, iPad or iPod users, ordering your programming couldn’t be easier. Any of the three can be used to sort through the selections and rent what you are interested in. And since the ordering process uses the same interface as ordering music and video on your Multi-Touch device you will already know how to navigate through the process.
What if you have a favorite program on your iPhone, iPad or iPod and you want to view it on your HDTV? Theres no need to rent it again: simply start the content on your device and tap it again to instantly stream it to your Apple TV. Its that convenient.
But don’t let the smaller size fool you. The Apple TV uses an A4 processing chip to ensure that your programs are easily streamed without having to worry about frozen screens. Your picture is clean and crisp- just like you were watching it on a DVD. And you have the convenience of stopping and restarting the show as many times as you want.
You can even fast-forward or rewind- just like a DVD. It has no built-in fan so theres no excess noises that you have to crank your TV sound up to drown out. And those who like to live “green” can appreciate the low power consumption since it uses less than a nightlight.
The Apple TV comes with aluminum Apple remote control, power cord and instruction manual. Its so simple to use, all you have to do is plug the unit’s power cord in, connect it to your HDTV with an HDMI cable and you’re ready to view programs.
The Apple TV. It is going to change you way you watch your programming- forever.
